A “Time Out” outside the Operating Room

Clark Cerezo Guzman, RN
Veterans Regional Hospital

Monitoring of vital signs, administration of IV fluids and medications, preparing and putting patients to safety, assisting surgeons in the different operations and procedures, taking care of instruments…

These are but some of OR nurses’ duties and responsibilities evolving to a greater beyond. Conventional. Almost. But, for the Nueva Vizcaya OR nurses through the leadership of Ms. Clelia B. Alejandro (Ma’am Cleng), in the midst of the challenges and opportunities in Perioperative Nursing field, offers an avenue to maximize their potentials through participating artistically in dances of numerous sorts.

This, as ORNAP Nueva Vizcaya Chapter, contracts to give way to globalization, redefines traditional roles and functions, and joins the quest for a healthier future while having “time out” in the form of dancing. Spending quality time rehearsing, nurse dancers bond more closely together and thereby release their stress and tension. They even get chance to be invited to different local gatherings and events showcasing their humble talents.Read more

The Creation of ORNAP-CARAGA Chapter

Michelle Y. Degracia R.N.

ORNAP-CARAGA chapter was formally created last Mach 14,2010 at Dottis Place, Butuan City. A general assembly was called and attended by different hospital's chief nurses and more than 60 participants join the said assembly. The event graced with ORNAP-NMC's founding officers and advisers namely; Mark Casino R.N. the founding President of ORNAP-NMC, Teofanes Guinita R.N. and Arly Pablico R.N. respectively.

Meanwhile, I was invited as a speaker and I was able to share what is ORNAP and how ORNAP-NMC created. It has been known that Butuan, Agusan and Surigao were part of ORNAP-NMC history. They carry the orange and blue colors of the inter-linked chains of our official regional logo that signifies unity among each other. Yellow for the province of Camiguin, green for Bukidnon, gold for Misamis and red for Lanao. For almost 5 strong years we've been together our friendship is inseparable now, that they have finally convened to separate from NMC we're happy for there maturity and wish them well for there endeavors. Rest assured that the linked between them to NMC will never be broken.Read more
