Monitoring of vital signs, administration of IV fluids and medications, preparing and putting patients to safety, assisting surgeons in the different operations and procedures, taking care of instruments…

These are but some of OR nurses’ duties and responsibilities evolving to a greater beyond. Conventional. Almost. But, for the Nueva Vizcaya OR nurses through the leadership of Ms. Clelia B. Alejandro (Ma’am Cleng), in the midst of the challenges and opportunities in Perioperative Nursing field, offers an avenue to maximize their potentials through participating artistically in dances of numerous sorts.

This, as ORNAP Nueva Vizcaya Chapter, contracts to give way to globalization, redefines traditional roles and functions, and joins the quest for a healthier future while having “time out” in the form of dancing. Spending quality time rehearsing, nurse dancers bond more closely together and thereby release their stress and tension. Inauguration of ORNAP Nueva Vizcaya Chapter – A dream come true!

The Nueva Vizcaya ORNAP Chapter was put up under the leadership of the founding president, Mrs. Clelia B. Alejandro, Operating Room Head Nurse of the Veterans Regional Hospital, Nueva Vizcaya. Induction of the Officers and Board of Directors by the ORNAP National President Mr. Rony M. Fajilagutan,RN was done on June 15, 2008 at Ammungan Hall, Capitol Site, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Followed by a lecture forum with the team "Building Competencies in Managing Surgical Instruments" by DGSV Sterile Processing Specialist Mrs. Jennifer C. Fernando.

More than 150 participants composed of operating room and delivery room staff nurses, clinical instructors and students from different hospitals and school institutions respectively benefited from the said lecture. The demonstration on proper care and maintenance of surgical instruments add up in the knowledge and skills of the participants.Read more
