COMMUNICATION HIGHLIGHTS IN ORNAP NMC CONVENTION
The Operating Room Nurses Association of the Philippines, Inc. – Northern Mindanao Chapter celebrated its 2nd Regional Convention and Scientific Meeting last September 16, 2007 at Xavier Sports and Country Club, Cagayan de Oro City.
The event was participated by perioperative nurses from Agusan, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao, Misamis and Surigao. Representatives from Davao City came headed by Mr. Oscar Bacatan, President PNA Davao Chapter and Vanessa Ceniza President ORNAP Davao City Chapter. PNA Governor Region X Mrs. Carmencita Lubguban and PNA President Misamis Oriental Chapter Mrs. Vivian Ceballos were also present. Mr. Rony M. Fajilagutan – President ORNAP National and Vice-President ORNAP National Ms. Marilyn Aro were also around.
The chosen theme was “Communication- Key to Global Progress and Success in Perioperative Nursing.” The theme highlights the importance of communication in our daily lives. The efficiency of surgeons, anesthesiologists and perioperative nurses has been lifted to higher grounds with the help of the advance and effective means of communication.
Topics covered in the convention were: Effective Communication in Managing Emergency Room, Operating Room and Post Anesthesia Care Unit Emergencies given by Teodoro J. Herbosa, MD, Updates in Perioperative Nursing Abroad, handled by Maria Tihane Densing, RN; Current Trends in Communication presented by Globe Telecommunication; Management of Obstetrical Emergencies discussed by Ruth S. Beltran, MD and Patients Safety: Nurse’s Role and Responsibilities Preoperatively, delivered by Ms. Teresita F. Artuz, RN.
Along with the speakers, Hon. Leonila A. Faire, member of the Board of Nursing, graced the affair with some updates on perioperative practice.
The organizers were very happy with the outcome and they were thankful to all who participated and extended financial support.
